Here at Prep & Paint Pro one of our core values is to uphold New Zealand’s proud clean and green image. The painting industry can have some catastrophic effects on our environment so we are 100% committed to reducing those effects and being the No. 1 environmentally responsible painting company in NZ.
DULUX is our preferred paint supplier as DULUX is NZ’s largest manufacturer of environmentally safe water based paints. Dulux have also been awarded an Environmental Choice license. This license covers most Dulux premium water based paints. Environmental Choice branded products must meet strict environmental standards and are recognised by the New Zealand Green Building Council, Green Star rating tools.
We use low VOC (volatile organic compound) paints. VOCs are unstable, carbon-containing compounds that readily vaporize into the air. When they enter the air, they produce ozone, which causes air pollution and a host of health issues including breathing problems, headache, burning, watery eyes and nausea. Some VOCs also have been linked to cancer, kidney and liver damage. As paint dries, these harmful VOCs are released into the air at high levels. Indoor VOC levels are routinely 10 times higher than outdoor levels, and up to 1,000 times higher immediately after painting.Paint-related products are one of the worst environmental offenders. They’re the second largest source of VOC emissions into the atmosphere after automobiles.
WE WILL NEVER WASH OUR BRUSHES AND EQUIPMENT DOWN YOUR DRAINS!
Rather than washing brushes, rollers and other painting equipment in the sink and letting hazardous chemicals enter the water systems and drains, as standard, all our painters use an enviro wash system. This revolutionary wash system converts waterbourne paints into clear water and solid waste, allowing for easy disposal and no pollutants entering our environment.
Where possible we utilize the Dulux ‘take back service’. Dulux take unwanted and left over paint and containers and they are re-used and recycled to minimize our impact on the environment.
